Niara Healing Arts

was founded in 1991. Our mission is to provide engaging, fun, science, and evidence-based education for massage therapists and body workers. We strive to promote therapists’ self-efficacy and confidence so they can do their best work in service to their clients.

Susanrachel Condon is a founding partner at River & Mountain Midwives, a full-scope midwifery practice in New York’s Mid-Hudson, and Niara Healing Arts, a massage therapy education company. She is also a sexual health and anatomy and physiology educator, who has taught broadly in numerous programs and venues throughout the U.S. Susanrachel graduated from the Swedish Institute in 1990 and taught extensively in their western studies and continuing education departments for decades. She graduated from the SUNY Downstate Midwifery Program in 1998 and, in 2019, was one of eight graduates in the inaugural cohort of the Doctorate in Midwifery at Jefferson University, studying the long-term impact of conventional maternity care practices on mental health and well-being. Her research was centered on consent, collaborative decision-making, overt obstetric violence and subtle, unconscious coercive practices as barriers to respectful care. Susanrachel has served as a clinical preceptor for four midwifery education programs and on numerous professional and leadership committees at the local, state, and national levels. Since 2022, she has served as a full-time clinical assistant professor in the Downstate Midwifery Program. Susanrachel is actively engaged in healthcare research and reproductive and racial justice projects. She is a mother of three and an avid knitter. While she enjoys very little spare time, she spends most of it in the mountains and forests near home.
