3 CEs NCBTMB/NY State Certified
Prerequisite: Some previous training/experience with Thai massage
This Thai massage course presents specialized techniques targeting the upper body. Students will learn techniques to be performed on a mat, but will find that they can easily adapt what they have learned to a massage table or chair.
The course consists of one lesson in which the students immediately pair up with a classmate and decide who is up and who is down. After an appraisal of the receiver’s health history, the balance of the time will be divided equally between giving and receiving so each participant can expect to receive work from a therapist who is watching the teacher performing the demo.
This class stands on its own as a set of specialized treatments catering to many people with hard-working hands. The intention is for it to be beneficial even if the students have already attended the same course in the past, since they will likely pair up with a different “body” each time and find a new inspiration.
There will be a two-hour Thai Massage Clinic 30 minutes after every class ($50), so students may choose to join and have an opportunity to practice these moves again under the supervision of the same teacher to improve retention.
Prerequisite: Course is open to licensed massage therapists who have some prior education and experience with Thai massage.
