What Is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist?
The first part of the course will provide an overview of the steps to becoming a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. It includes an explanation of the RD’s role within the multidisciplinary cancer team and resources for finding an RD.

Nutrition and the Cancer Patient: Pre Diagnosis and Pre Treatment
This section of the course will present an overview of the nutrition and physical activity guidelines for cancer prevention.

Nutrition and the Cancer Patient: Treatment
The instructor will provide an overview of nutrition effects on cancer patients and cancer’s effects on patients’ nutrition.

Nutrition and the Cancer Patient: Post Treatment
The lecture will conclude with an overview of post treatment nutrition guidelines for cancer survivors as well as end-of-life patients.

Edelina Photo copyEdelina Joy Bustamante, MS, RD, CDN Edelina is a clinical Registered Dietitian in NYU Langone Medical Center’s Laura & Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center specializing in Hematology, Gynecological Oncology, and Neurological Oncology. Her role as an outpatient oncology dietitian involves providing nutrition education, counseling, and workshops to patients and caregivers. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nutritional Sciences-Dietetics from Rutgers University, Dietetic Internship from Rutgers University School of Health Related Professions, and Masters of Science in Foods and Nutrition from New York University.
