The Sound Therapy Training at CATA will give students the ability to explore clinical work utilizing basic principles of sound and music with specific attention to how vibration affects the body-mind system, and how our tissue-body attunes to sonic vibration. We will also learn and explore the psycho-dynamic principles of sound and music in different therapeutic modalities.
This program is designed for healing arts practitioners and clinicians interested in developing their understanding and skills in working with sound and vibrational therapies. Examples of disciplines that would benefit from this training include music therapists, psychotherapists, sound practitioners, medical professionals, yoga teachers and body workers.
Participants will come away with a clear, in-depth understanding of the vibrational body, the science of how sound affects the neuro-endocrine system, as well as deep listening practices to develop the way in which we connect with our clients, patients, students, and of course, ourselves.
Our weekend trainings begin on Friday evenings at 5pm with a 2-hour workshop followed by a sound meditation. Saturday and Sunday are full days beginning at 10am and ending at 6pm with a 1-hour lunch break. Each weekend will focus on theory, history, and hands-on practicum training with homework, journaling, and mentoring as part of the process. Some instruments will be available for sale and there will be many instruments on hand for use in dyad and group work.
