This class will include a discussion of the issues that commonly occur after breast surgery and radiation treatment, followed by a demonstration and hands-on practice of soft tissue massage techniques addressing all of the muscles and fascia of the area in a focused and specific way.

You will learn how to help clients restructure their holding patterns and to generate pain relief, fluidity and ease of movement. The goal is to provide you with techniques you can immediately incorporate into your practice, and with the knowledge to help you work with compassion, skill and confidence.

Jennifer Ashton is a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist and a graduate of the Swedish Institute of Health Sciences. Her training spans both Western and Eastern modalities of bodywork including Swedish, Shiatsu and Myofascial Release. She is additionally a National Board Certified Reflexologist. Jennifer is also certified in Massage for the Cancer Patient through Memorial Sloan Kettering and Hospital-Based Massage Therapy for Seriously Ill Patients through Mount Sinai’s Palliative Care Institute. She specializes in Oncology Massage and has advanced training in mastectomy and radiation scar tissue work for breast cancer patients. In 2009, she began as a volunteer massage therapist at Mount Sinai’s Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute. In 2011, she joined Mount Sinai’s Dubin Breast Center to create the Massage Therapy Program and in 2013 she started the Massage Therapy Program at Mount Sinai’s Ruttenberg Treatment Center. She also maintains a private practice specializing in Prenatal Massage and safe and modified massage for people diagnosed with cancer during all phases of treatment, into survivorship and end of life. Jennifer also holds a BA in Dance and Fine Arts from Hunter College.

Dominique Bousquet studied therapeutic massage at the Swedish Institute in New York City. She became a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist in February of 2008. Her work integrates Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, myofascial release, active release technique, Reiki, as well as Reflexology, in which she holds a National Board Certification. She has also studied specialized massage techniques for the breast cancer patient with Page Mullins from the Bendheim Integrative Medicine Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering and holds a certification in massage therapy for the cancer patient from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She maintains a private practice and is part of the massage therapy team at the Dubin Breast Center at the Mount Sinai Health System. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.
