Saturday, June 15th/ 11 am – 3 pm/$90
4 CE hour NCBTMB / NYS-certified

In this workshop we will explore the muscles most commonly involved in low back and hip pain–those that are easily accessible (gluteals, iliotibial band, tensor fasciae late, and hamstrings) as well as those that are more challenging to palpate and treat (quadratus lumborum, psoas and iliacus, piriformis and the deep hip rotators). We will demonstrate techniques in supine, prone, and effective side-lying positions. To achieve our desired therapeutic outcome, we will use the stones at hot, cold, and room temperature. Students will learn how to heat or cool stones to the proper temperature. We will demonstrate how to use the stones “broadly” for myofascial release, and “specifically” for trigger point release.

As with any tool, how you hold it makes a difference, so this workshop will also focus on self care. You will learn how to use stones without compromising your wrists and hands. The desired outcome is to facilitate a deep release for your client without causing trauma to their muscle tissue, while minimizing the effort you must exert to achieve this therapeutic result.

Please bring two flat sheets; face cradle cover; towel, if desired, for extra bolstering; and oil or cream. CoreStones will be provided and will also be available for purchase.
