This Master Class, taught by CATA’s Oncology Massage Program director, assisted by two therapists who have completed the program, will focus on managing expectations when confronted with cancer in the spa setting.

Felicia Newsome, LMT is a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in oncology massage since 2005. She began comprehensive oncology massage training at Memorial Sloane-Kettering’s Bendheim Integrative Medicine Center (2005 – 2011) working in both the outpatient and hospital settings. She then joined the integrative health team at NYU Langone Perlmutter Cancer Center (2009-2016) rounding out her clinical training in the chemo-infusion setting. In 2014, Felicia co-founded the CATA Oncology Massage Training Program where the mission is to educate massage therapists about the latest concepts in cancer care, and facilitate the investigative, critical thinking and communication skills necessary to work safely and effectively with their cancer clients. Felicia is currently Managing Director of the CATA OM Program while working diligently on her Masters in Acupuncture at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.
Patrick Eastmond is a graduate of the Swedish Institute College of Health Science, graduating with an A.A.S in Massage Therapy. He is currently working with XpresSpa as an Educator/Trainer, teaching the company’s massage protocols to the new massage hires as well as the managers. He also holds certifications in Oncology Massage, Pre and Post Natal Massage, Medical Massage and Rain Drop Therapy certification from the Swedish Institute. Patrick has a B.A. in Business and Philosophy from Brooklyn College and an A.A. in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Micah Schwartz is a Licensed NYS Massage Therapist and a graduate of the Swedish Institute. He is also a Licensed Esthetician, graduating from Christine Valmy. He is a Massage Therapist at Bliss Spa Soho. He holds Certificates in Reflexology, Peri-Pre-Natal Massage and Medical Massage, all from the Swedish Institute. He will complete the Oncology Massage Program at CATA in March of 2017. He holds an Associates in Photography and a B.A in Liberal Arts from the New School University.
