This course is the continuation of Carpal Tunnel & Thoracic Outlet Syndrome-PART I, which continues the treatment progression already started with the wrist, forearm, & elbow. Quite often, patients present with both issues, exhibiting double crush phenomena with associated painful signs & symptoms, thus requiring a full arm treatment approach. Many people will suffer from these disorders at some point in their career, due to overuse and poor biomechanics. This class will give you ideas on how to alleviate and help manage the dysfunction, with an on-going treatment plan, self-care stretches & hydrotherapy homework.

Treatment of the various ailments that occur for anyone who works intensively with their hands, starting with the elbow, then progressing proximally towards the Thoracic Outlet and surrounding musculature and fascias will be shown. Demos will be given on how to release brachial, then SCM, Upper Trapezius, & Pectoralis superficial fascias, before deeper structures, such as pectoralis minor, anterior & middle scalenes are addressed. Focused decompression of the structures which make up the Thoracic Outlet can improve & prevent many of the issues associated with these disorders, and help with long term pain management.

There will be a half-hour lunch break, so students may want to bring a bagged lunch and eat in the student lounge.

Required Materials: 2 sheets (1 fitted, 1 top sheet), 1 towel, 1 pillowcase, pen and paper, sports bra and shorts. Also bring Atlas of Human Anatomy by Netter or an equivalent anatomy textbook or application. $30 fee payable to instructor for workshop DVD (optional).
