Seeing the body’s alignment clearly is a direct path to facilitating a client’s healing process. In this course, we will review Tom Myers’s assessment tool: Body Reading. Using simple terminology–bend, shift, tilt and rotate–we will uncover the hidden relationships of the body. By seeing posture and patterns in the body, we set the stage toward bringing it into alignment. This will afford us an intelligent strategy to relieving pain and discomfort.

Introduction to Body Reading & Myofascial Release
In order to make intelligent structural assessments of the bodies presented to us, we must impart a clean postural analysis to that system.  In the first class we will lay out a foundation of body reading postural analysis.  When we reveal the alignment or geometry of the skeleton, we can infer the relationship of the soft tissues involved in organizing that skeleton.  This class intends to establish a clear language that will guide practitioners toward advanced skills of seeing posture while offering them a simple language to communicate the stories to their clients.

Divided into 4 segments, this course explores:

Intoduction to Body Reading & Tensegrity
Legs & Pelvis
Arms & Shoulder Girdle
The Spine &Rib Basket

Besides gaining a new assessment tool, we will explore myofascial hands-on techniques and strategies to counter any imbalances we uncover in the body.

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Perform postural assessment of a client’s structure using body reading techniques
  • Use body reading language intelligently in order to communicate your findings to the client
  • Be able to identify disintegrations and successes in a client’s structure
  • Interpret your assessment and translate into a treatment plan
  • Apply hands-on skills and techniques to facilitate myofascial changes in your clients.
