Ilene centers her practice on Polarity, Craniosacral and Massage to provide healing bodywork for the mindful body. Her work readily gravitates across the spectrum from Polarity Therapy and Craniosacral work to soft tissue release, structural alignment, reflexology, Ayurvedic-based meridian and point manipulation and assisted-stretch and release techniques. By focusing on how the body moves, how it holds patterns of old injuries or traumas in the physical, mental or energetic dynamics of the body she addresses not just the symptom of pain but detects the root cause for effective results; unwinding patterns of tension, chronic pain, injury or stress to restore the body to its natural balance and ease.

Polarity & Craniosacral can be very effective for settling the nervous system, reducing stress levels, addressing chronic injuries or other long-term issues. As Craniosacral and Polarity developed out of Osteopathic work, amongst other influences, great attention is paid to the anatomy, how each part relates to the whole. Where energy is blocked, where pain patterns prevent easy movement, Polarity’s active contacts complement Craniosacral’s lighter touch, to open those pathways. Engaging conscious awareness of these dynamics, grounded in the tangible structure & function of the body unleashes the flow of natural, healing, reparative, self-correcting mechanisms.

A graduate of Soma-Psyche Institute’s Polarity program, Wellness Institute’s Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and Finger Lakes School of Massage are the foundation of her bodywork training. An Anthropology degree from Barnard College & post-graduate study at the International Center of Photography initially brought Ilene to India where she began her studies in Ayurvedic massage & nutrition at the renowned Ayurvedic Health Center in Goa. Continually engaged to broaden and deepen her knowledge, Ilene incorporates her studies of Thai massage, Reiki, Yoga, Shamanic Soul Retrieval, Somatic Intuition, and Herbal Medicine.
